Several of these images - including some beyond the winners - were ones we wish we had made. The framing, lighting and timing on the first place portrait impressed us quickly. The way the light here skims over his torso and head puts a nice emphasis on him. The second place image just exploded with color and joy. The third place generated a little more debate with us - three generations on a three-place podium was a great idea and it place even though we wished the lighting was a little stronger. The strobes in back are working well, but the light coming in from the front right should be a little softer, especially on her in the middle. There were a cluster of other very well lit portraits and expressive faces in this group - it was really nice to see people paying attention to the craft of lighting again.
