First Place: “Mardin” immediately jumped to the top as first place. The light is very nice on the subject, who also has a nice expression on his face. We like the composition of the photo, and the chosen background helps gives context to the story. Second Place: We like the pose of the subjects in “ASL Pride Disappointment,” but the setting could have been better — maybe in their home or in a more purposeful place. We think the subjects needed more light, and maybe a darker background could have helped make them pop more. Third Place: There is nice light on the subject in “Bishop,” but we think a different pose shot from another angle could have helped. Alternate: “Paddle” did not rise to the top for us. The light is nice, but we think a different angle and crop could have made for a better image.
