We felt that there were some strong images that should have been entered in General News. Others were also marked down due to a lack of names and caption errors.
First place rose above the rest through its strong composition, use of light and forethought to get in the right position to make a clean image.
Second place, had a strong sense of place and felt like a feature that had news value and excellently captured the record snowfall in a creative way.
Third place made us laugh and was just a classic found moment that also benefitted from a good caption with cat names.
