This category could have benefitted from better cropping and suffered from a lack of intentionality. The man caring for the dog photo shows a human interest, and demonstrates a photographer working an entire scene rather than just the action. We felt that it was the strongest out of what was submitted in the category. The photo of the dad showed a classic display of emotion synonymous with spot news and fire service photography.
