First Place: The firefighter is well-lit in this dreary moment in “Hose Carry.” We also like how the colors pop through the darkness. Second Place: We like the use of the heat waves from the fire in “Sunrise Fire.” It's a creative way to capture this moment, with the firefighter and ladder out of focus in the background. Third Place: We like the perspective in “Gas Station Fire.” The higher angle gives the viewer a different way to understand the amount of damage that took place. Alternate: “House Fire” is an intense photo, and we like how the green in their jackets matches the leaves in the top left corner.
