This category was the region's strongest. We found it to be extremely unfortunate that a couple of photographers entered multiple images instead of just their strongest. Less is often more. Look for redundancy in your images before you enter. Ask others for advice. There's an image from this month where a firefighter is spraying water at a HUGE fire. It would have won first place...easy...if it weren't the second image in a redundant collection of images. The first place image was framed well and the caption was thorough. Great job. Toning was a bit rough but it also looked like terrible lighting. Second and third places offered in-the-moment images.
