As expected, we saw a lot of strong photos of the smoky red sky in this area at this time of year. We want to acknowledge a unique, simple, direct composition of an object placed above the sun. For second place, we knew pedestrian/umbrella scenes are not unique, but we were impressed with the technical execution of the timing and deliberate positioning the photographer used to highlight the pedestrian. Third place is an intimate, playful moment of a child eating lunch for which the photographer worked hard to gain access.
