Judges Comments

Emotion trumps a record shot every time. 1st has it in spades. It requires the caption or the headline and story (which readers would have seen) to make the moment resonate. Could have used a slightly tighter crop too from both sides. 2nd doesn't really need a caption but doesn't quite have the emotional punch either. Nice moment, nice composition.
