Lots of images that we felt were very much planned events (ie.
general news) even if they were lighter we still felt they did not fit the
found moment/slice of life feeling we would prefer. The winners were
those that met the standard. First place was a great found moment
within news coverage, well composed, funny and poignant. Second
place read quickly and easily and brough a smile to our faces. Third
was a great visual composition. We would have preferred, as
journalists, to have the name of a single, identifiable, subject in a
feature photo. We also liked the photo of the police giving directions
to the passing motorist ... it was probably the most Found Moment in
the whole category ... but a lack of IDs to round out the storytelling
aspect bumped it off our top three.
