Judges Comments

We wanted a couple of the entries to be in other categories where they would have placed. 1st place is the tight shot of the Revolutionary War soldier firing his weapon. So clean and easy to read. 2nd place was the family at the funeral. We commend the photographer for finding an angle without (we hope) being intrusive in a difficult assignment. But we didn't like the person crossing in the background. 3rd place was the young students lined up against the wall at the premiere of a film they produced. Great expressions. Very natural and inviting photograph. HM to the photographer for getting in position and waiting for the student wearing all white, framed by a white circular overhead light, speaking at a public forum. Striking image we wish was a portrait entry.
