MG KUSA Crater Lake Plowing 9 10 8 10 Such a cool story! Not only was it beautifully shot, and cleanly edited, but it was full of interesting information. I especially liked the "average year' sound and the tid bit about how it was originally done by crews with shovels! Craziness. Your commitment for getting some the wide shots you needed really paid off too. That shot of the whole lake is incredible. Great story. Wicked pretty. Awesome info. Nice work!
AV KUSA Crater Lake Plowing 9 9 9 9 Beautifully shot, great sequences and very interesting. Great work here.
MS KUSA Crater Lake Plowing 9 9 8 9 Nice opening shot, but I would have liked to had the natural sound of the wind blowing another second or so to establish the winter scene. Give the viewer at home the sense you felt when you had the wind blowing in your face. We as photojournalist have the ability, with the images we capture, to take our viewers to places they normally would not get a chance to visit, we introduce them to people they normally would not meet and if they they learn something, are entertained and get a sense they are right behind us on that cold and wind blown mountain...then we have done our jobs! Nice job of using all your broll to cover your first couple of talking heads. The sound you gather during interviews is important, but the video of all that snow is what people want to see. This might add another seven to ten seconds to your story, but I would have liked to have heard more natural sound to break up the interviews. Nice job of shooting and editing under those conditions...but boy is it fun...once you warm up!
EK KUSA Crater Lake Plowing 8 9 9 9 Great job. Beautifully shot and edited. Sell-sequenced with lots of shot varitety. You wove your sound well, but up-cut a little bit of your interview sound, but nothing too distracting. Listen for opportunities to turn good moments into great ones. As soon as I heard the guy say that this work used to be done by hand, I would have gotten everyone's reaction to that. Can you imaging turning in bulldozers for shovels?

MG KUSA Sharp Turns 9 9 9 9 Great story. I love how you book ended it with the girl. You had some really cool moments with her falling, and dropping the bike, and you used them really well. It made for nice transitioning into and out of the house setting. Which lookd great as well. Nicely lit. Pictures were shot well. Nice job all around!
AV KUSA Sharp Turns 9 9 9 9 Great story, great reveal. This story is your perfect onion story. Many, many layers.
MS KUSA Sharp Turns 9 8 8 9 This is a good example where the reporter and photographer are obviously working together. The reporter did a good job of writing to moments, which happens when the video is logged. All photographers appreciates a reporter who labors to log and to write to moments or uses the nat soound to help tell the story. Good job of paying attention to all the details...both of you!
EK KUSA Sharp Turns 9 9 8 9 Great job. Great storytelling. Solid structure with B, M, E. Way to work with your reporter to make your shots and sound are intersting and meaningful. Great moments throughout to keep me engaged and entertained.

MG KUSA Addie's New World 9 8 8 9 A whole story set in a little doctors office sounds like a tough shoot. Setting it up with the family at home was a wicked good idea. It drew me in and made me care about Addie and her story. It was also a cool way to help your audience understand cochlear (no way I spelled that right) implants and the effect they can have. Seems like a good story to follow. Nice job!
AV KUSA Addie's New World 9 9 8 9 Great story here, and moments!!! You had me here!!!. Good job. watch the edits with similary framed shots. There were a few jump cuts, but the moments drove the story. Good job.
EK KUSA Addie's New World 8 7 8 9 You got the moment that counts. Way to stay on her to get the moment and not get caught up on sequencing and missing something special. Good job. I liked the setup at home which help with your story structure. Good job setting up Dad's anticipation of the moment they turn on the implants.

MG KUSA Tree of Life 8 7 7 8 Beutiful looking piece. That tree is really friggin cool. I think a striaght up shot of the tree may have been a more powerful reveal than the tilit up, but I did like how you held off on showing the tree for a bit. The people you found visiting the tree were cool too. I kinda wished the story was more about them than the tree. If there was an issue about the tree like it was going to be cut down or something then I could see focusing on that, but without that element telling the story of a family may have been more memorable. The woman in the office felt really out of place too. Again if she brought the story around to a tree centered issue it'd make sense for her to be there. Nice job on a cool little NAT pak.
AV KUSA Tree of Life 8 8 8 8 This a great piece. I like your pace, your nats and the feel of your primary character, the tree. Great build up . Well shot. Good job all around.
MS KUSA Tree of Life 9 8 9 8 Great that you didn't give the story away in the first ten seconds and also covering the talking heads with broll. Interesting shot just showing the feet and the close up of the tree leafs because it may me wonder where were the people walking? Your sequencing of the feet and tree kept me wanting to know what was coming next and what was up with the tree. Great family historical piece.
EK KUSA Tree of Life 8 7 7 7 Beautifully shot. Loved the reveal. Your composition was off and you cropped out the heads of the people walking up to the tree. I wish there were more moments and emotion at the tree instead of just interviews. The sound with the lady in the office diid not belong. Use her sound if it's importatnt, but leave out the video. I'm getting nitmicky here, because I loved the story.
