Way to zoom in tight! A close-up really works in this moment. His body language is highlighted with his eyes focused ahead and his tongue out. That paired with the javelin running just above the middle of the frame makes you feel the anticipation of what he's about to do.

This frame rises above the rest because it took some thought and technical ability to make. Silhouetting the player on the sun shows that this photographer knows how to use their camera. I only wish that the batter was positioned so we couldn't see the edge of the net on the right side. It's still a beautiful frame.
There were a few great frames in this category that showed that the photographers are thinking about things other than the action on the field. Sports are colorful, emotional, are often played in good light, and have many details to capture. Don't forget that there are many ways to tell the story of the game. Honorable mention: Sara Nevis
