2019 – 4th Quarter – Picture Story/Essay

Judges Comments

Some standout work here worth taking time for! But first… almost every entry would be helped by a tighter edit. Many essays lost their narrative simply by entering too many images. That said, Waiting in Mexico was excellent and we awarded first place for the variety as well as the depth of information conveyed by the visuals. Really well done. Second place, Aubrey, exhibited a wonderful range of images. Clearly the photographer spent a lot of time with their subject. Third place, Syracuse Boxers, trailed behind. It felt vague for us and captions were lacking. It felt like a “what might have been” project.
