1 -"Short and sweet, tells a compelling story behind a single photograph. Lovely shooting style and use of historic images.
2 - You've found a gifted storyteller with a compelling and important story to tell. The smart and visually sophisticated use of archival photos and documents makes for a beautiful little film. You've done your community a service with this gem.
Important representation - good daily coverage that belongs in the paper. Shooting style is clean and interviews are professional. You found some great characters and did some interviews that made them relax into the story. That's good. The shooting runs the gamut from intriguing details to pretty standard medium shots. I really miss a sense of place. What does the whole place look like? What does the neighborhood look like?
Simple and clean. Important story, appreciate that the victim is able to share in their own voice. Nicely done with the rowing at the end. Lighting on the main interview was a bit of a struggle (background hot), but usable. You use disconnected broll in a way that really helps the story along. In a story like this, when the work is to listen to a story that needs to be told but has not, it is always hard to draw the lines around who to name, how to represent all the people in the story. You handled that well, it seems.
