A very basic event that was turned into something much more. Kudos to the videographer and producer for finding two great characters to put this event into a larger perspective. The documentary sequences were beautifully captured and the overall package was paced well. Interviews could’ve been lit a little better but they were compelling enough that this wasn’t a distraction.

Even though these were all interview sequences, they were composed and captured very well, and the content was edited in a way that kept me engaged throughout.

Loved the opening sequence and it immediately introduced the subject and I thought the background information on who the Buffalo Soldiers were was well-edited and the archival images were smartly used. Some of the documentary sequences were a little shaky but I thought it was beautifully captured overall.

Overall the hardest category to judge: All the winners had compelling stories, fantastic characters that drove the narratives and solid audio and visual editing.
