First place - Great capture in the moment, plus the context of the story about her being on the football team. Different way of seeing sports portrait. In many cases you don’t want the direct gaze of somebody, but in this case we really thought it worked.
Second place - Nice layering, color and shapes.
Third place - Good environmental portrait that shows much of the story within one photo. Well composed, especially with her being framed in the back by the arch. She seems to be relaxed with the photographer. We also thought that the person being photographed being at ease given the surrounding tragedy is an interesting dichotomy.
