FIRST: Great environmental portrait that places subject in the center of their element. We remarked that we could see this on the cover of the New York Times arts section. To improve this shot even further, crop out the incomplete bodies on left and right sides of image that are cut-off.
SECOND: Great lighting with a clean background, and overall a sharp, clean portrait. We wondered if there might be something else to do with other props such as a record player, but the portrait is also effective in its simplicity. It’s easy to read and understand right away.
THIRD: A simple and effective portrait that is well composed to incorporate the subject in his natural environment. To improve this image even further, photographer could find ways to incorporate the shop owner’s reflection in the display case, or try another angle alongside the wall.
