Quite a few nice photographs in this category that left the judges alternating between peak action images and unique moments and compositional execution.
First: We went back and forth on the first and second images a lot. Both are great sports captures, but ultimately gave the nod to the image shot from above. Just a perfect moment (we actually can’t tell whether the player is safe or out) and the unique angle gave it the edge.
Second: Another stellar peak action image that drew us in instantly.
Third: Could have also been considered a Sport Feature entry, but it was actually captured during the course of the game and we liked the moment as well.
Judges:
John Hart/Wisconsin State Journal, Amber Arnold/Wisconsin State Journal, Steve Apps/Wisconsin State Journal
