Judges Comments

First Place – This is a thoughtful project that took care and effort in selecting its subjects to explore the theme of motherhood across cultures. Each image allows the viewer to connect to the particular mother-daughter relationship and build forward to the next pair without becoming too expected. Second Place – The use of sound made with the images was a nice though to help elevate the experience of an unexpected sport. A good use of a variety of imagery within a limited space and circumstance, though this package would have benefited with a tighter edit on some of the images of launching/receiving the birds from a similar perspective. Third Place – Solid photography in this package. While several images stood out, there was a bit of a lacking in emotional connection and depth to the main subject that kept it from rising higher.
