The sports feature differs from the action category in that there is more room for the photographer to execute some vision, when the thinking moves away from the reaction photo, the agony and ecstasy of sport and into the more storytelling images that get us off the field and away from the heat of competition. Unfortunately we did not see any of the former and had to pick from a few decent game reaction images. The coach in first won us over due to a great face and unusual body language, composed and framed well. The celebrating players in green edged into second for a series of good faces in a very clean, tight, composition. The girls’ basketball celebration shot was cleaner and better composed than anything else in the pool of entries.
