Not as many entries here. Many had very weak narratives and were miscategorized. 1st place: This photo essay stood out immediately. A nice approach following one family and capturing their tragic loss. So far, this is a good starting point by getting to know each individual in the family, but we felt like we wanted more. It would have been nice to see what their lives were like living at the motel. 2nd place: The photographer was clearly trying to make the monument the main character in this narrative and paid close attention to shadows and reflections. This was an interesting approach, but it was difficult to connect to.
