Mid-Atlantic – May 2019 – Feature/Single

Judges Comments

Overall, not a super strong category. We felt like the "weather" features didn't take great advantage of any special angles or moments, seemed more like big stretches on where a moment might have come, had they waited longer. Even the go-to weather feature of a silhouette could have benefited from waiting some more for a better separation between passersby and the ferris wheel. The great color of the car wash couldn't convince me to place it, maybe if a bigger moment? The young runner with shadows was a nice catch, just felt others were stronger for placement. 1st, Nice moment of calm, amidst the chaos of a dance rehearsal. We all hope for finding these moments when covering dance. Patience and positioning paid off. 2nd, Quiet moment that again, takes patience and positioning. Nice seeing a tender moment between the boy and horse and the juxtaposition of scooper! 3rd, Nice framing. Would have benefited from a bigger moment/face on some children, but good searching for interesting angle.
