Mid-Atlantic – April 2019 – Portrait/Illustration

Judges Comments

1- First place won because of the number of subjects in the frame paired with clean composition, color and lighting. This is a portrait that takes time and care to execute properly and we felt that the photographer did both. 2- We loved the dramatic lighting in this photo paired with the shadows and reflection. 3- Swimmer- The reflection in the water underneath the swimmer is very nice along with the lighting. We also liked how the goggles were on his forehead allowing to see his eyes to add a little more mood to the face. A little more contrast would have been nice, but still an excellent portrait. All three were very tough to decide upon and all had arguments for first place.
