This category had lots of great pictures. No shortage of strong sports. First Place: Hard to get action. Beautiful moment with peak action. What more is there to say? Second Place: Fine moment. The photographer had the presence of mind to try something that wasn’t meant to freeze action. The sharp focus of the gymnast’s head with the motion of the legs created an interesting picture. Third Place: The head on perspective of sporting conflict at peak moment with the bend in the polo mallet coupled with clean background and the polo ball made this rise above the others. The pictures with the cleanest backgrounds and peak action were the obvious best choices.
