Judges Comments

First place was a clear winner. It was super creative and eye catching. We did talk a bit about weather this image belonged in feature or general news. One judge also added that the burning around the pigeon was a bit much. Again, it was a clear first place though. Second place was a nice moment from a sad event. Again, we talked about how 'intentional' the portrait was. One judge likes to see images in the portrait category be intentional portraits. Not just a quiet moment from a general news event. Third place was strong. We had one judge say she felt the way in which the image was shot make her feel uneasy. She suggested maybe getting down on eye-level with the subject. She felt the neck and body language was a bit jarring.
