The first place photo series captured the bleak landscape left after the Paradise fire. The images were otherworldly and as a series worked well. The second place images won over the judges because the use of color was prioritized. The judges also like that there were wide, medium and detail shots. Third place had a couple of nice images, but the judges felt the use of flash could have been utilized better.
