The first-place entry’s beautiful use of light, emotion and laters captivated all three of us immediately. Second place’s use of symmetry and composition made it a sure bet – we can imagine the photographer lying down and waiting for the entrance of the man. Our third-place pick got a nod because of the action and the expression of the subjects (both the humans and the seagulls)
