First Place: This photo easily rose to the top. The light was beautiful. The reflection was well seen by the photographer, and the placement of the word 'FACE' was perfect. It was a nice way to illustrate a story about a plane flight without being too obvious. Second Place: This was a nice quiet moment that definitely stood above a lot of the vigil photos we looked through this month. A good capture of human emotion. Third Place: We thought that the composition of this was well executed, especially for an assignment that had to potential to be mundane. Again, a lot of these photos were miscategorized, with half of them better fit for the features category. In fact, a few of those photos would have placed in features, had they been entered into the correct category. Also, a lot of the multiple photo entries needed to be edited down, as the package hurt the entry. This was especially true with the Local Vigil entry. We felt that the second photo in that series would have placed if it wasn't weighed down by the other photos in the entry.
