1st place had the strongest individual image of all the entries. I could have won all by itself, it did not need to be entered with additional images as part of the entry. Luckily there were enough other strong images in the multiple image entry to keep it as our top pick. 2nd was a well executed photo from a breaking news scene. 3rd the volume of images in the entry pushed it down to 3rd. A tighter edit would have pushed it up to 2nd ­ too many repetitive images. The stronger images get a little lost in the mix.
