The Picture Story/Essay category was pretty weak. Most of the entries were from planned events that had a story arc. Many of the entries were of planned events that just had extra picture opportunities. Very few of the entries seemed to be stories documented over a period of more than a few hours. Every entry should have been edited better. Don't forget cut lines do matter. The first place entry is fun with nice, genuine emotion. Second place is a well documented story over some time, I would love to see this story followed over a long period and edited down.
