Judges Comments

The photos that rose to the top clearly showed creativity and the photographer working an otherwise boring situation to make something fun and visually interesting. Other images had potential if photographers would have worked the scene better. A little more patience would have paid off for a few of these photographers. Post-processing skills such as toning and cropping were lacking in a lot of entries, which brought the quality of work down. Good toning and appropriate cropping can make a mediocre image into a clip winner. First Place: This was the most dynamic photo. The composition draws you in and the angle helps to showcase the fun of the event. We thought the photographer did a good job of working a mundane situation to get an interesting image. Second Place: A standard photo but executed well. The colors help to make this one of the more interesting photos to look at. Good additional information in the caption to add some more flair to a standard car washing shot. Third Place: We felt this was a good character study. We enjoyed looking at all of the faces included in the frame and including the peak moment for such a tight race. It seemed intentionally framed and worked well.
