Jon Menell - Great edits. Solid control and expression of the concept. Well justified and rationalized technique throughout. An extremely enjoyable piece to watch. ___________________________ Becca Habegger - Here’s a fantastic example of how effects can heighten a story and emphasize the main subject, while not getting in the way. For the first minute, I wondered whether the editor was just being flashy - but then once I realized the story is about vanity plates, it all made sense. Great reveal! Good job not rushing to get to the point .The journey is enjoyable. Love the tilt shift - effective, not overused in the story. Well done, clear winner in this category.

Jon Menell - A great treatment that was unique and well integrated into the story and its elements. ___________________________ Becca Habegger - Strong use of effects to illustrate and convey the story. This piece would not have been as strong without the realtime split-screens, depicting the car’s response to electronic commands, all the way across the country. Well done there. Other effects used throughout the story (3D illustration of car company’s quote, presenting a study, etc.) were also effective and not over-the-top.

Jon Menell - Nice use of layers and effects to explain a potentially video unfriendly subject ___________________________ Becca Habegger - Great use of effects to illustrate sensitive subject matter. Running the various IP addresses across the screen effectively conveyed, chillingly, a sense of how many of these computers/predators exist. Again-- in a story with a topic that is hard to illustrate, the use of maps and computer-related sequences effectively held my visual interest, allowing the gravity of the topic to sink in.
