Both winners were stories with a lot of information to organize into strong stories. The first-place story was well-edited as it outlined the story of capturing killer whales in the Pacific Northwest during the 1960s and ’70s fueled a worldwide orca craze. The story of serial killer John Wayne Casey both looks back at the original case and connects to the DNA testing to identify victims decades later likewise organized a complicated story from the past. There were two entries in this category.
