This was a tough category to judge due to the depth and breadth of solid entries, but first place is simply a picture that we just don’t see.Ever. The photographer did all the right things and did them well:shooting through the play to follow ALL the action, and making the most out of a busy frame. Our second place entry is the complete opposite football shot: clean background, the peakest of peak action, great (and visible) expressions, but also a moment that happens frequently (which is why it didn’t make it to the top). Third place is a classic baseball picture – even the stadium elements in the background add to the story.
