We would have liked to have see more entries in this category, but we know that time is an issue at most community newspapers. Some of the entries were executed nicely. First place told an emotional journey of a family and their son’s medical issue. It’s important for a photo story like this to have a welldefined angle, as well as a beginning, middle, and end, and the photographer accomplished that. Photo after photo showed a lot of emotion and allowed the viewer to experience the family’s journey by giving us a close up, intimate connection to the child. Second place was an awe inspiring series of graphically composed, areal photos that kept in accordance with a theme. We felt the third place was very informative with great story telling imagery, however a couple images we felt were unnecessary and we would have liked to have seen a more thoughtful presentation of the order of the images.
